
Women’s Water Polo Announces Schedules for Spring Season, Bruno Classic

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown University women's water polo will host the 2020 Bruno Classic, make its annual spring break trip to the state of California, and play six CWPA regular season games as part of its 2020 spring schedule, Brown head coach Felix Mercado announced on Tuesday.

The Bears open the season on Jan. 25 with match-ups against Iona and Villanova at Harvard.
Brown then hosts the Bruno Classic from Jan. 31 to Feb. 2, squaring off with Austin (Jan. 31), Siena (Jan. 31), Long Island University (Feb. 1), Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (Feb. 1), Whittier (Feb. 2), and Wagner (Feb. 2). The three-day, 21-game tournament will feature three contests on Jan. 31, 11 contests on Feb. 1, and seven contests on Feb. 2.
Following the Bruno Classic, the team plays at the Marist Invitational on Feb. 22 prior to taking part in the Harvard Invitational from Mar. 7-8. At Harvard, the Bears will meet Salem (Mar. 7), Marist (Mar. 7), LIU (Mar. 8), and Iona (Mar. 8).
After an off weekend, Brown heads to the state of California for a five-day, eight-game trip from Mar. 21-25. During their time in the Golden State, the Bears will face C-M-S (Mar. 21), Chapman (Mar. 21), Cal Lutheran (Mar, 22), CSUN (Mar. 22), Whittier (Mar. 24), La Verne (Mar. 24), Concordia (Mar. 25), and Long Beach State (Mar. 25).
The Bears then return to the East Coast for a trio of games at Saint Francis University (Pa.) from Mar. 28-29. While in Loretto, Pa., Brown will play the host Red Flash (Mar. 28), Princeton (Mar. 28), and Michigan (Mar. 29).
Brown opens CWPA play with a pair of games at Princeton University on Apr. 4, taking on Michigan and George Washington.
Bruno then competes in its first home games since the Bruno Classic with a league weekend from Apr. 10-11. The Bears will host Bucknell (Apr. 10), St. Francis (Pa.) (Apr. 10), and Princeton (Apr. 11) in CWPA play.
The Bears remain at home to close the regular season on Apr. 18, hosting Harvard in their CWPA finale and Marist in a non-conference contest.
Brown will compete at the 2020 Collegiate Water Polo Association Championship from Apr. 24-26 in Ann Arbor, Mich., with the winner of the tournament claiming the league's automatic berth into the NCAA Championships.
