PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown University women's soccer senior midfielder Celia Story has earned a spot on Top Drawer Soccer's National Team of the Week after helping the Bears earn a 4-2 win at Harvard this past weekend, Top Drawer Soccer announced on Tuesday.
A native of Bainbridge Island, Wash., Story netted her second goal of the year and the 13th goal of her career as she made her first appearance since Sept. 22 due to injury. Her goal in the 45th minute lifted the Bears to a 2-1 lead at halftime against the Crimson as Brown snapped a seven-match win streak for Harvard and became the first team to score on the Crimson in Ivy League play this season.
After missing the majority of the 2018 season due to injury, Story – a two-time All-Ivy selection – has returned to the Bears this fall and now has 35 career points on 13 goals and nine assists.
Continuing their best season since 1984 (10-1-1) and best Ivy start since 1994 (4-0-0), the Bears – ranked No. 5 in the RPI and No. 14 in the Top Drawer Soccer national poll – earned back-to-back road victories at Harvard for the first time since claiming consecutive road victories over the Crimson in 1988 and 1990.
Next, Story and the Bears host Vermont in a non-conference game on Wednesday, Oct. 23 at 4:00 p.m. (ESPN+) before returning to Ivy League play at Cornell on Saturday, Oct. 26 at 1:30 p.m. (ESPN+).
Video of all Brown women's soccer home contests and all Ivy League games, home and away, will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
Tickets for all Brown women's soccer games can be purchased online, by calling the Brown Athletics Ticket Office at (401) 863-2773, or by walking up to the box office located in the Pizzitola Sports Center, open Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
