CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Brown University men's crew captured second place – and first among college crews – in the men's championship four and placed sixth overall – and third among college crews – in the men's championship eight at the 55th Head of the Charles Regatta on Sunday afternoon on the Charles River.
"From the start of the fall season, we have been focused building a strong squad in which everyone adds value," Brown head coach Paul Cooke said. "This weekend at the Head of the Charles, everyone on the team contributed. The energy has been good from day one, and we look forward to building on successes. We have a lot of work to do, and I am confident that athletes on this team will enjoy pushing each other."
The Bears captured a silver medal and placed first among collegiate crews in the men's championship four race (event 55) as Brown's top boat (bow 1) in the event finished in a time of 15:52.888 out of a field of 15 crews. The Bears trailed first-place Italian entry Fiamme Gialle (15:48.855) by 4.033, while topping third-place Dartmouth (15:57.371) by 4.483 seconds.

Brown's second boat (bow 13) in the men's championship four finished in eighth place behind a time of 16:17.822.
"Coach Graham Willoughby has made a big impact this fall," Cooke said. "I've really enjoyed seeing him work with the oarsmen. The progress the crews have made has been impressive."
