
Women’s Hockey Returns to ECAC Play with Home-And-Home Series Versus Yale

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – After closing out non-conference play last weekend for the 2018-19 season, the Brown women's hockey team will return to ECAC action with a home-and-home series versus Yale on Friday, Jan. 11 and Saturday, Jan 12. The first game will be played in New Haven, Conn. on Friday at 6:00 p.m. while game two will be in Providence, R.I. on Saturday at 6:00 p.m. Both games will be streamed on ESPN+.

SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
Yale enters the weekend with a 3-12-0 overall record and is 2-6-0 in ECAC games. The Bulldogs played on Tuesday night, their first action of the New Year, and fell to New Hampshire, 4-3. Yale's marquee win this season was over then No. 3 Clarkson on Nov. 17, a 5-1 victory in New Haven, Conn. The Bulldogs opened with a strong first period, scoring three goals and followed with one goal in each of the final two periods. Emma Vlasic leads the team in points with 11 with six goals and five assists. She is tied with Rebecca Vanstone for the squad's lead in goals (6). Vanstone also ranks second with 10 points with the addition of four helpers. Tera Hofmann leads the goalies with 11 starts while having a 2.79 goals-against average and a .918 save percentage. Gianna Meloni has seen action in four games and has a 3.54 GAA and a .889 save percentage.
BROWN LEADERS
Sena Hanson leads the Bears in scoring with 13 points on a team-best 10 goals and three assists. Freshman Shay Maloney (1-7-8) is tied for second on the team in scoring with fellow rookie Lizzy Gross (5-3-8) with eight points. Maloney paces the Bears in assists with seven. Junior Calla Isaac leads the netminder group in starts with eight and has a 3.25 GAA and a .912 save percentage. Freshman Hayley Kliczko has appeared in seven games (six starts) this season between the pipes, recording a 4.02 GAA and a .893 save percentage. The rookie recorded a career-best 44 saves at Union on Nov. 10 in a 2-2 tie, which included four saves in overtime.
LAST TIME OUT
Brown dropped a non-conference series to RIT at Meehan Auditorium last weekend in its first action of 2019. The Bears were edged in the first game, 2-1, on Friday and were defeated 2-0 in the finale on Saturday. Junior Sena Hanson scored the lone goal in game one while on the power play. In game two, Lauren Rippy made her first start of the season in net and tied her career high with 34 saves.
LAST YEAR VS. YALE
The Bulldogs swept last season's series with wins of 4-2 (Jan. 18 at Ingalls Rink) and 3-0 (Jan. 20 at Meehan Auditorium). In game one, Brown trailed 2-0 entering the third but pulled within one before Yale closed the door with two tallies. After a scoreless first period in game two, the Bulldogs scored two power-play goals in the second to take control of the contest and added an empty netter in the third to thwart off an attack by the Bears.
NEXT UP
The Bears will hit the road for the first time in 2019 and head to North Country to face St. Lawrence on Friday, Jan. 18 and No. 6 Clarkson on Saturday, Jan. 19. Friday's game will begin at 6:00 p.m. while Saturday's puck drop will be at 3:00 p.m. Both contests will be streamed on ESPN+.
