PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown University women's soccer continues a four-game home stand at Stevenson-Pincince Field when it hosts the University of Vermont on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. (ESPN+) and the University of Rhode Island on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. (ESPN+).

LAST TIME OUT
Freshman Rebecca Rosen (Port Washington, N.Y.) scored the game-winning goal in the 95th minute to lift Brown to a 2-1 win over Holy Cross in overtime on Sunday afternoon at Stevenson-Pincince Field. Junior Abby Carchio (Lakeville, Mass.) scored the Bears' first goal in the 29th minute and finished the game with three points on a goal and an assist.
CARCHIO CATALYZES OFFENSE
Junior midfielder Abby Carchio (Lakeville, Mass.) leads Brown with five points on the year on two goals and an assist and has factored in all three of the Bears' goals thus far this season. In a 2-1 overtime win against Holy Cross (Sept. 9), she scored a goal in the 29th minute and assisted on the decisive goal in overtime off a corner kick. She finished with three points against the Crusaders, posting three points in a match for the second time in her career. She scored the game-winning goal in the 45th minute in a 1-0 win over Sacred Heart (Aug. 31).
ROSEN WITH THE WINNER
Freshman forward Rebecca Rosen (Port Washington, N.Y.) scored the game-winning goal in Brown's 2-1 overtime victory over Holy Cross (Sept. 9). She netted her first collegiate goal in the 95th minute, heading a corner kick from junior Abby Carchio (Lakeville, Mass.) into the back of the net.
ETZEL IN GOAL
Senior goalkeeper Christine Etzel (Madison, Conn.) is now in her fourth season as Brown's starting goalkeeper. Etzel played 96 percent of Brown's minutes in goal from 2015-17 and has played every minute this season. She leads the Ivy League in total saves (34) and saves per game (5.67). Etzel stopped eight shots at Providence (Sept. 6). She totaled 18 saves over Brown's opening weekend, stopping eight shots at Pepperdine (Aug. 24) and 10 shots at UC Santa Barbara (Aug. 26) – her second career game with double-figure saves. She ranks third on Brown's career shutouts list with 20 shutouts, fourth on Brown's career wins list with 29 wins, and ninth on Brown's career saves list with 243 saves. Etzel won the 2016 Ivy League Defensive Player of the Year award and is a three-time All-Ivy selection.
DEFENSIVE TOUGHNESS
Through the season's first six games, the Brown defense has allowed just six goals. As a team, the Bears rank first in the Ivy League in save percentage (.854). Senior goalkeeper Christine Etzel (Madison, Conn.) along with sophomore back Sydney Cummings (Millstone Township, N.J.), senior back Nicole Phillips (Rolling Hills Estates, Calif.), and freshman back Lauren Hinton (Middletown, Conn.) have anchored the Bears' defense. Cummings earned Second Team All-Ivy in 2017, and Phillips gained Honorable Mention All-Ivy in 2016.
YOUTH IN LINEUP
Brown features a youthful roster with freshmen and sophomores accounting for 18 of the Bears' 27 student-athletes. Eight freshmen have made starts for the Bears this season. Against Holy Cross (Sept. 9), Brown played 17 field players with nine freshmen and four sophomores included in that group.
ADDING ASSISTS
In Brown's 2-1 (OT) win over Holy Cross (Sept. 9), junior Andie Gilmore (Walpole, Mass.) and freshman Malina Yago (Culver City, Calif.) each posted her first assist of the season.
NO PLACE LIKE HOME
Since renaming its home pitch Stevenson-Pincince Field prior to the final home game of the 2015 season, Brown has posted a 13-4-3 record at home. The Bears went 6-2-0 at home last season and posted a 4-1-3 mark at home during the 2016 campaign. Thus far in 2018, Brown is 2-1-0 at home.
SCOUTING THE CATAMOUNTS
Vermont carries a 1-4-1 overall record into the weekend, coming off a 1-0 win over Sacred Heart on Sunday. Aly Spencer leads the Catamounts with two goals and four points. Kacey Lambertson has played the majority of time in goal, recording a 1.35 GAA and .814 save percentage.
SCOUTING THE RAMS
Rhode Island brings an 0-7-0 mark into Sunday's match-up. Last weekend the Rams fell to Albany (Sept. 9), 4-1, and Central Connecticut (Sept. 6), 1-0. Kelly Mayo and Brooke Osmanski lead the team with two goals apiece. Julia Freeman (1.33 GAA, .750 SV%) and Haley Brennan (2.72 GAA, .676 SV%) have split time in goal.
ALL-TIME SERIES
The Bears hold an 11-6-3 all-time mark against Vermont in a series that started in 1975. Brown owns an 18-6-1 advantage in the all-time series with Rhode Island. The Bears have won the last five meetings against the Rams in a series that began in 1985.
LAST FALL
In 2017, Brown registered an 11-5-0 overall record, giving the Bears their most wins since going 13-4-0 in 2000. Brown also set a single-season program record with four overtime victories. The Bears tallied six All-Ivy selections, including First Team All-Ivy honoree Abby Carchio '20 (Lakeville, Mass.).
THE LAST THREE SEASONS
The Bears have finished in the top half of the Ivy League standings for three straight years for the first time since 1992-94. In 2015, Brown went 7-7-2 overall (3-3-1 Ivy) to place third, in 2016 the team finished 9-2-5 overall (4-1-2 Ivy) for second place, and in 2017 the Bears went 11-5-0 (4-3-0) for fourth place.
WORLD CUP QUALIFIERS
Sophomore back Sydney Cummings (Millstone Township, N.J.) and sophomore goalkeeper Maria Guerrero (San Juan, Puerto Rico) competed in World Cup qualifiers in May 2018, taking part in the Caribbean Zone's regional qualification tournament.
Representing Guyana, Cummings earned her first three career international caps and scored her first career international goal in a 6-1 win over Suriname. Representing Puerto Rico, Guerrero garnered her first three career caps at the senior level. She previously served as a reserve goalkeeper for the senior team and competed for Puerto Rico at the U20 and U17 levels. Both Guyana and Puerto finished second in their respective groups, falling one spot shy of advancing to the qualification tournament's final round.
THE CAPTAINS
Senior goalkeeper Christine Etzel (Madison, Conn.) and senior forward/midfielder Celia Story (Bainbridge Island, Wash.) will serve Brown as captains for the 2018 season. Etzel returns for her second season as a captain for the Bears.
YEAR THREE
Head coach Kia McNeill enters her third season as the head women's soccer coach at Brown University in 2018-19, leading the Bears to their highest finish in the league standings since 1994 in her inaugural season in 2016 and guiding the Bears to their most wins since 2000 in her second season in 2017. She returns her top two assistants from the last two seasons in Matt Mones and Raleigh DeRose, while adding Andre Reis as the team's volunteer goalkeeper coach.
