Women’s Soccer’s Okonye Named to Watch Lists from MAC Hermann Trophy, Top Drawer Soccer

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown University women's soccer senior midfielder Joy Okonye has earned recognition as a MAC Hermann Trophy Player to Watch as a midfielder as well as earning a spot on Top Drawer Soccer's Top 100 Players to Watch as the organization's No. 28 player in the preseason.
Okonye stood as the only midfielder from the Ivy League to appear on the watch list for the MAC Hermann Trophy while she ranked as the highest of just two players from the Ancient Eight in Top Drawer Soccer's preseason top 100.
A season ago, Okonye earned several accolades including Ivy League Offensive Player of the Year, NCAA Division I All-East Region First Team, unanimous First Team All-Ivy, First Team All-ECAC, First Team All-NEWISA. Starting all 17 games, she tallied 19 points on seven goals and five assists.
A two-time First Team All-Ivy selection, Okonye has played in 51 career games with 48 career starts, totaling 31 career points on eight goals and 15 assists.
The IWSOC and United Soccer Coaches announced the Midfielders on its NCAA Division I Women's Players to Watch list ahead of the 2026 intercollegiate season. The lists are compiled and released by the Division I All-America Committees to promote college soccer leading up to the official start date for the regular season. The lists include United Soccer Coaches All-Americans and All-Region players from 2025 who are scheduled to return for the 2026 season.
Top Drawer Soccer's ranking includes the highest ranked college soccer players in the nation and is updated weekly. The ranking includes sophomores, juniors, and seniors.
