NEW BRITAIN, Conn. – Central Connecticut State recorded 22 hits as the Brown baseball team fell to the Blue Devils, 17-2, in Wednesday's nonconference contest at the CCSU Baseball Field.

Brown moved to 6-10 overall and Central Connecticut improved to 7-9.

Willy Homza (Anchorage, Alaska) led the Bears with two hits, while senior Sam Grigo (Westbrook, Conn.) drove in two runs. Cameron Deere (Los Angeles, Calif.) took the loss as the starter, allowing six runs over 3.0 innings with three strikeouts.

Patrick Mitchell earned the win for CCSU, giving up one run in three innings, while Dean Lockery paced the Blue Devils at the plate with five hits.

Rich Ciufo (Medford, N.Y.) gave the Bears an early led as he opened the first inning with a double and then crossed the plate on a groundout for the one-run lead. CCSU broke through with six runs in the third inning, using five hits in addition to one Bruno error, before the home team added eight runs over the next three frames.

Calvin Farris (San Diego, Calif.) scored the other Brown run in the eighth inning when he scored on Grigo's double to left center.

Brown will return to Ivy League play this weekend when they visit Yale for a three-game series. The two teams will play a single game on Friday (3 PM) and a doubleheader on Saturday (11:30 AM).
