#15 Brown Opens Season With 8-1 Win Over #18 Bates

Providence, R.I. - Fifteenth-ranked Brown opened its 2018-19 men's squash season with an 8-1 win over #18 Bates Saturday afternoon at the Kate Brodsky Squash Pavilion.

"The first competitive match of the season is always a little nerve-wracking for players and coaches as you do not know how the team is about to play," said Brown head coach Stuart leGassick. "Everyone is very pleased this evening as both teams, on the whole, played really well against strong Bates squads. We are now looking forward to Yale on Wednesday."

Brown captured the first three matches, getting wins from sophomore Maximo Moyer, 3-2, at number one, freshman Grant Sterman, 3-1, at number two, and sophomore Andrew Wei, 3-0, at number three.

The Bears continued their success and captured matches 5-9, with wins from senior Phil Demeulenaere (3-2), junior Harrison Boyer (3-0), senior Ben Carabello (3-0), sophomore William Glaser (3-0) and senior Palak Goel (3-1).

Coach leGassick's squad will wrap-up its first semester on Wednesday, December 5, traveling to New Haven, Conn. to battle Yale at 6:00 pm.
