PRINCETON, N.J. – Junior Cameron Daly (Meredith, N.H.) placed 24th overall as the Brown men's cross country team finished sixth at the Ivy League Heptagonal Championships on Saturday at Princeton's West Windsor Fields.
Princeton captured the team championship in wet, windy conditions, followed by Harvard (61), Dartmouth (67) Penn (95), Columbia (98), Brown (164), Yale (176) and Cornell (203).
"This has been a difficult season with injury and illness, but it was gratifying to see the team compete so hard today," said Brown head coach Tim Springfield.
Daly completed the 8-kilometer course in a time of 25:17.4, moving up six spots from the 3-mile mark for 24th overall out of 92 runners. Sophomore Dominic Morganti (Syracuse, N.Y.) was not far behind as he took 27th in a time of 25:21.2.
David Scherrer (Virginia Beach, Va.) was 30th in a time of 25:28.1, before Franco Martins (Orlando, Fla.) crossed seven spots later at 25:39.2. Zachary Lanigan (Sydney, Australia) finished the race at 25:47.1 to round out the scorers.
"Cam did a great job leading the team," added Springfield. "Cam and Franco both were less than 100% but provided needed leadership for a young team."
Brown will return on Friday, November 9 for the NCAA Northeast Regional in Buffalo.
