PRINCETON, N.J. – Senior Nico Lozada (Dallas, Texas) of the Brown men's soccer team has been named the Ivy League Player of the Week, announced by the league office on Monday.
Lozada netted his first goal of the season when Brown registered a 2-1 win at No. 20 Tulsa on Friday. The Dallas native put Brown on the board in the 15th minute, chipping the ball over the head of Tulsa's keeper from 15 years out. The senior rushed the net and punched in the go-ahead goal for the early lead. Brown concluded the weekend with a 1-0 defeat at Southern Methodist to snap its four-game winning streak, the best start for the Bears since 2007.
Lozada, who picks up his first weekly award honor, is Brown's second straight Player of the Week selection, following junior forward Toby Howell (Sept. 11).
Brown will return to College Hill on Saturday when the Bears host Rhode Island at 7 PM.
