
Men's Soccer Opens Season at Bryant on Friday

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown men's soccer team will kick off the 2017 season on Friday, Sept. 1 when the Bears travel to intrastate rival Bryant (4 PM).

IVY LEAGUE NETWORK
Video of all home contests and all Ivy League games, home and away, will be broadcast live on the Ivy League Network. Fans can subscribe and view games by purchasing yearly, monthly, or daily packages.
BROWN LAST SEASON
Brown went 8-8-1 overall and 3-3-1 in the Ivy League last season, finishing fourth in the league standings. The Bears ranked third in the league in goals against average, limiting overall opponents to 1.20 goals per game. Brown racked up six All-Ivy selections at the end of the season, led by defender Jack Hagstrom, who was named to the First Team for the second time in as many years.
TEAM CAPTAINS
Seniors James Myall and Louis Zingas will serve as team captains for the 2017 campaign. Myall will be a captain for the second straight season.
BROWN IN SEASON OPENERS
The Bears are 49-34-8 all-time in season openers and are 5-2 under the direction of eighth-year head coach Patrick Laughlin. Brown topped Bryant, 1-0, in last year's season opener at Stevenson-Pincince Field.
SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
Bryant went 3-10-3 last season and heads into Friday's game at 0-2-0 overall. The Bulldogs dropped a pair of road games at UMBC, 1-0, and Delaware, 2-0, to kick off the season. Defender Charlie Booth was named Second Team All-NEC last season while Nathaniel Brown paced the team in scoring with seven points.
HAGSTROM NAMED TOPDRAWERSOCCER TOP 100
Junior Jack Hagstrom was ranked No. 64 overall on TopDrawerSoccer's Preseason Players to Watch Top 100 ranking, a list that includes sophomores, juniors and seniors. Hagstrom is a two-time First Team All-Ivy selection and was named the 2015 Ivy League Rookie of the Year after leading the Bears in goals (5) and points (11).

After Bryant, Brown will host Quinnipiac next Friday (9/8) in the team's home opener at 7 PM.
