
Women's Hockey Closes Out Home Slate Against Colgate (Fri.) and No. 7/7 Cornell (Sat.)

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown women's hockey team will return to Meehan Auditorium for their final home weekend of the 2016-17 season and battle Colgate on Friday, Feb. 10 and No. 7/7 Cornell on Saturday, Feb. 11. Friday's game will start at 6:00 p.m. while Saturday's will begin at 3:00 p.m. Brown will honor seniors Erin Conway, Catherine LeBoeuf, Monica Elvin and Maddie Woo in a brief pregame ceremony on Saturday.

SCOUTING THE RAIDERS
Colgate held a national ranking in both the USCHO.com and the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine polls up until Jan. 16-17 and enters the weekend with a 20-7-3 overall record (11-6-1 ECAC) while receiving votes in both polls. The Raiders have won four-straight including a 3-0 win over RPI (Feb. 3) and a 4-1 victory over Union (Feb. 4) last weekend. Jessie Eldridge leads Colgate in points with 34, on 12 goals and a team-best 22 assists. Baily Larson has scored the most goals for the Raiders with 13 and has also tallied 10 assists to tie for third on the team in scoring (23). Julia Vandyk has seen the bulk of the action in net with 27 games started. She has recorded a 1.77 goals-against average, a .931 save percentage and five shutouts for a 18-7-2 record. Liz Auby has started three games and posted one shutout, a 2.21 GAA, a .904 save percentage and a 2-0-1 record. The Raiders penalty kill ranks tops in the ECAC, warding off 92.4% (110-for-119) of its infractions. Colgate 9-5-1 on the season when playing on the road.
SCOUTING THE BIG RED
Cornell has been ranked in both the USCHO.com and the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine polls since Jan. 16-17 and is currently seventh in both polls. The Big Red has posted a record of 16-6-3, 12-3-3 in conference action this season. Hanna Bunton leads Cornell in points with 23, on nine goals and a squad-best 14 assists. Kristen O'Neill carries the program's goal lead with 11 scores to go along with nine assists for 20 points, good for second on the team in scoring. Paula Voorheis and Marlene Boissonnault has split time in goal with Voorheis leading the way in starts (14) and save percentage (.944). Boissonnault leads in wins (9), shutouts (2) and goals-against average (1.54). The duo has combined to allow the fewest goals in the ECAC. Cornell also leads the conference in power-play percentage (19%, 20-for-105). The Big Red has struggled a bit on the road this season, holding a sub .500 record at 4-5-2.
BROWN TALKING POINTS
Junior Sam Donovan leads the Bears in points with 15, on a team-high eight goals and seven assists. Donovan registered her second-career hat trick earlier in the season against Sacred Heart on Oct. 22 in a 7-0 win. The assistant captain's four-game point streak came to an end last weekend. Sophomore Bridget Carey is second on the team in points with 12, on five goals and seven assists. Freshman Sena Hanson holds the team's assist lead with eight to go along with three goals for 11 points. The Bears have had two freshman earn ECAC Rookie of the Week honors in Hanson and Alley Rempe. Senior Monica Elvin leads the team in games started in net (17), and has recorded 11 30+ saves games on the season. Against Dartmouth (Jan. 21), the netminder recorded her first-career shutout with 19 saves against the Big Green and was named ECAC Goaltender of the Week on Jan. 24 for her performance. With the victory, Brown defeated Dartmouth for the first time since March 4, 2006. Elvin also registered a career-high 63 saves at then No. 5/5 Colgate on Nov. 12. When scoring first in a contest, the Bears are 5-1-0 this year.
THIS SEASON VS. COLGATE
The Bears were defeated by No. 5/5 Colgate, 3-0, on Nov. 12 at Class of 1965 Arena. Senior Monica Elvin finished the game with a career-high 63 saves, with 17 saves in the first period, 21 in the second and 25 in the third. The Raiders scored two goals in the first period and added one in the third for their victory.
THIS SEASON VS. CORNELL
Brown fell 4-0 at Cornell on Nov. 11 at Lynah Rink. All of the game's scoring took place in the third period, with the Big Red tacking on four unanswered goals, including two power-play scores and one short-hand/empty net tally.
NEXT UP
The Bears will close out the regular season on the road at Dartmouth on Friday, Feb. 17 and at Harvard on Saturday, Feb. 18. Friday's contest will begin at 6:00 p.m. while Saturday's puck drop will be at 3:00 p.m.
