NEW YORK – The Brown baseball team dropped both ends of a doubleheader at Columbia, 7-3 and 10-2, on Sunday to complete the opening Ivy League weekend at Satow Stadium.

Brown moves to 7-13 overall and 1-3 in the Ivy League after four games against the Lou Gehrig division. Columbia now stands at 7-15, 2-2 in the league.

Game 1 (Columbia 7, Brown 3)
Rob Henry (Cranston, R.I.) went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and a triple, while Jake Levine (Newton, Mass.) also had two hits with one double and one RBI.

Austin French (Orange, Conn.) went five innings in the loss, giving up six earned runs and three strikeouts. Robbie Stephens (Lexington, Ky.) tossed one scoreless inning out of the bullpen.

Columbia scored in each of the first five innings for a seven-run lead, but the Bears scored two runs in the top of the sixth, when Sam Grigo (Westbrook, Conn.) hit a sacrifice fly and Josh Huntley (Aurora, Colo.) followed with an RBI single through the left side.

Brown tacked on another run in the final frame when Levine drove in Henry with a double, but the Lions were able to get the final out to secure the win.

Game 2 (Columbia 10, Brown 2)
Josh Simpson gave up two runs over seven innings in the second game to give Columbia the win. JJ Sliepka (Houston, Texas) took the loss on five runs in three innings as the starter, while Willy Homza (Anchorage, Alaska) had two RBIs for the Bears.

Brown opened up the scoring with two runs in the top of the second when Huntley and Brian Ginsberg (Calabasas, Calif.) posted back-to-back hits and then scored on Homza's two-run double.

Nevertheless, Columbia responded with nine runs over the next two innings to build a seven-run advantage, highlighted by a four-run third frame. Columbia scored a final run in the eighth and Thomas Crispi and Willis Robbins provided consecutive scoreless innings over the final two frames to complete the victory.

Brown will visit UMass Lowell in a midweek contest on Wednesday and then host Cornell (4/9) and Princeton (4/10) over the weekend.
