
Baseball Set to Play UCF, Bradley in Orlando

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown baseball team will head down south this weekend for a pair of games against Central Florida and a single neutral site game against Bradley in Orlando. Links to live stats will be available on brownbears.com.
Game 1: Brown at UCF (3/18 – 6 PM)

Last Time Out
Brown (1-6) was swept at Marshall in the four-game series last weekend, starting with a marathon 17-inning contest in the opener. Tim McKeithan led the team offensively with a .385 average and two doubles, posting at least one hit in each game. Christian Taugner and Austin French gave Brown a pair of quality starts on the mound. Brown outhit Marshall in two of the four games.
Scouting UCF
Central Florida is 10-8 this season and most recently dropped a mid-week game to Miami, 5-2. Eli Putnam leads the team with a .353 average, while Austin Griffin is batting .313 to go along with four homers, seven doubles and 22 RBIs for a .597 slugging percentage. Robby Howell is 3-0 with a 0.34 ERA in four starts. Cre Finrock and Trent Thompson are next on the team in earned run average at 3.33 and 3.86, respectively with one win apiece.
Scouting Bradley
Bradley (9-6) has won four straight and downed Dartmouth, 7-2, on Thursday. Tyler Leffler and Andy Shadid lead the team in hitting at .328 and .313, respectively, while Leffler has 11 RBIs and eight doubles. Matt Dennis is 3-1 and paces the Braves in innings (25.1), strikeouts (28) and ERA (4.26). Lefty Cameron Roegner is 1-2 in four starts with a 5.48 ERA. Bradley reached the NCAA Tournament last season as the No. 2 seed in the Louisville regional.
Leyman Picks Up Ivy Honor
Freshman Bobby Leyman was named the Ivy League Rookie of the Week after an impressive college debut last Friday. With the game tied heading into extra innings, Leyman came out of the bullpen and tossed six hitless and scoreless innings in his first career appearance. His strong outing gave the Bears a chance, but they ultimately dropped the marathon contest in the 17th frame. He also added a pair of strikeouts in the contest.
