
Men's Hockey Closes Regular Season at No. 1 Quinnipiac (2/26), Princeton (2/27)

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown men's hockey team will wrap up the regular season this weekend when the Bears travel to No. 1 Quinnipiac (2/26) and Princeton (2/27). Both games will start at 7 p.m., while Friday's game at QU will air on SNY. Links to live video and live stats will be available at brownbears.com.

Last Time Out
Brown closed out the home slate with a three-point weekend against a pair of ranked teams, downing No. 20 Clarkson, 5-2, before a draw against No. 18 SLU, 2-2. Brown exploded for four goals in the first period against Clarkson, including three in the first seven minutes of play. Zack Pryzbek, Tommy Marchin and Nick Lappin all had two-point games with one goal and one assist apiece. Tyler Bird and Alex Brink also scored for the Bears. Tim Ernst made 26 saves to earn the win in net.
Brink and Lappin provided both goals the next night against SLU on Senior Night. Lappin's tally in the second period gave him 50 career goals, while fellow senior Brandon Pfeil had two assists in the game. Ernst made 22 saves in net.
Playoff Picture
Brown enters the weekend at 11th place in the ECAC standings. The top four teams earn a bye and the next four secure home ice for the first round in a best-of-three series. Brown has 11 points and will be on the road for the first round but can finish anywhere from 10th to 12th in the standings.
Scouting Quinnipiac
Top-ranked Quinnipiac heads into the final weekend at 14-1-5 in the conference and has already secured a bye for the playoffs, but reached overtime in the last four contests. Quinnipiac boasts the best scoring offense in the ECAC at 3.78 goals per game and the second-best defense, clocking in at 1.97 g/gm. The Bobcats also rank second in both power play percentage (27.3) and penalty kill percentage (90). Sam Anas leads the offense and ranks first in the ECAC in scoring at 21-21-42 in 32 games. Travis St. Denis and Tim Clifton are also in the top five in scoring with 36 and 33 points, respectively. Goalie Michael Garteig is 23-2-7 with a 1.87 GAA a .925 save percentage.
Brown vs. Quinnipiac All-Time
Quinnipiac holds a 16-7-6 advantage in the all-time series between the two teams. QU captured the first meeting of the season with a 3-0 victory in Providence.
Scouting Princeton
Princeton skates into the weekend at 3-15-2 in the conference and can finish anywhere between 10th and 12th in the playoff seeding. Ryan Kuffner leads the team with 14 assists and 19 points, while Max Véronneau has nine goals. Colton Phinney is 5-19-2 in net with a .924 save percentage and a 2.84 GAA. The Tigers rank last in the conference in scoring offense at 2.00 goals per game. Princeton enters the weekend on a nine-game skid.
Brown vs. Princeton All-Time
This Friday will mark the 164th meeting all-time between Brown and Princeton. Brown holds an 86-67-10 advantage over Princeton in the all-time series, which dates back to a 4-4 tie during the 1899-1900 season. Princeton won the first meeting this season, defeating Brown, 4-2, at Meehan Auditorium.
Lappin Reaches 50 Career Goals
Senior Nick Lappin scored in the second period against SLU on Saturday for his 50th career goal. He is the 19th player in program history to hit the milestone. Lappin notched his 100th career point earlier this season and currently ranks fifth in the ECAC in scoring at 16-16-32.
Brink's Breakout Weekend
Rookie Alex Brink scored a pair of goals against ranked teams Clarkson and St. Lawrence to help Brown to a three-point weekend. He scored one goal in each game, giving him three in the last four games, and is now tied for third on the team with five goals.
Bruno Takes On Top Teams
Brown's game at No. 1 Quinnipiac on Friday will mark the team's sixth straight game against a ranked opponent. Brown is 1-2-2 during the stretch.
Facing Off
Mark Naclerio is 89-36 on faceoffs over the last five games for a .712 percentage. Naclerio is 388-257 overall for a team-best .602 percentage, checking in at 11th nationally.
Naclerio Climbs Assist Ladder
Mark Naclerio is ranked 15th all-time in program history with 66 assists and has recorded at least one assist in five of the last six games.
