
Men's Tennis Falls to No. 34 Dartmouth and No. 45 Princeton

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Brown men's tennis team competed against No. 45 Princeton on Friday, No. 34 Dartmouth on Saturday and St. John's on Sunday in the ECAC Championships, falling 4-0 in the matches.
Brown was swept 4-0 by No. 45 Princeton on the opening day of the tournament (Friday, Feb. 12). In doubles play, the duo of sophomore Jack Haworth (Corby, England) and freshman Mladen Mitkak (Zagreb, Croatia) played tough in second doubles but fell, 7-5. Junior Gregory Garcia (Poway, Calif.) battled in first singles but was edged, 6-3, 6-4.
In the second day of action the Bears squared off against No. 34 Dartmouth and fell 4-0 (Saturday, Feb.13). Garcia had another tough challenge in first singles, facing No. 50 Dovydas Sakinis, falling 6-1, 6-3. In fourth singles, Haworth was defeated 6-3, 7-5.
On the final day of competition, the Bears were defeated 4-0 by St. John's. The lone Brown win came in second doubles with freshman Mladen Mitak (Zagreb, Croatia) and sophomore Aaron Sandberg (Hudson, Ohio) teaming up for the victory, 7-6 (4).
The Bears will have a week off before they compete on Monday, Feb. 22 against Bryant (11 a.m.) and Boston College (4:30 p.m.) at the Pizzitola Sports Center.
