Men's Tennis Takes Down Bryant and Boston College

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown men's tennis team defeated Bryant, 4-0, and Boston College, 6-1, on Monday at the Pizzitola Sports Center.

To open up the day against Bryant, Brown claimed the doubles point with victories from second doubles, featuring freshman Mladen Mitak (Zagreb, Croatia) and sophomore Aaron Sandberg (Hudson, Ohi0) (6-4) and third doubles with sophomore Peter Tarwid (Lake Forest, Ill.) and sophomore Anthony Arocho (Norridge, Ill.) (6-1). Singles wins included sophomore Jack Haworth (Corby, England) in the third spot (6-3, 6-2), Sanberg in fifth singles (6-1, 6-2) and Arocho in sixth singles (6-0, 6-2).

Verusu Boston College in the latter match, Tarwid and Mitak captured first doubles, 6-2, but the Eagles were able to win the point with victories in second and third doubles. Tarwid kept his winning ways and was victorious in first singles, 6-2, 6-4 while Mladen also won, in second singles, 6-2, 6-0. Haworth captured third singles, 6-2, 6-1, and freshman Charles Tan (Austin, Texas) won fourth singles, 6-3, 5-7, 6-4. To complete the singles sweep, Sandberg (3-6, 6-3, 1-0) and Arocho (6-0, 6-4) won in fifth and sixth singles, respectively.

The Bears will next travel to North Carolina to face Elon on Friday, Feb. 26 at 2:00 p.m. and UNC Wilmington on Sunday, Feb. 28 at noon.
