PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown men's ice hockey team is listed under receiving votes in the first United States College Hockey Online (USCHO) Division I poll of the 2015-16 season, recently released by the college ice hockey website.
Brown is one of eight ECAC programs receiving votes in the national rankings for the upcoming campaign. According to the poll, Brown will play against at least six teams listed in the USCHO top-20 rankings during the 2015-16 season, including crosstown rival and defending national champion Providence College in the Mayor's Cup series.
Under the guidance of head coach Brendan Whittet, who enters his seventh season at the helm, the Bears boast a strong combination of veteran leadership and talented newcomers. Brown welcomes back 21 leterwinners from last year's squad, including top senior forwards Mark Naclerio and Nick Lappin, who paced the Bears in assists and goals, respectively. In addition, the Bears dressed nine freshmen over the course of 2014-15 and will draw from that young but experienced lineup this winter.
Brown opens up the season on Saturday, October 31 when the Bears host Holy Cross at 7:30 at Meehan Auditorium. Season tickets can be renewed and purchased online, by calling the Brown Athletic Ticket Office at (401) 863-2773, or at the Pizzitola Sports Center Box Office, open Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM.
