SKILLMAN, N.J. – The Brown men and women's tennis teams earned All-Academic accolades as announced by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) on Thursday. The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA member program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or higher.
The Bears also combined to net 13 players as ITA Scholar-Athletes, a distinction awarded to an athlete that is a varsity letter winner, posts a GPA of at least 3.50, and has been enrolled at their present school for at least two semesters.
"At its core, college tennis is about higher education. In addition, our sport has always been a leader when it comes to high performing scholar-athletes," said Timothy Russell, Chief Executive Officer of the ITA. "This group represents the best of the best, as do their coaches who regularly serve as such great teachers and mentors of our sport's finest young people.”
For the 10th consecutive season, the women's tennis program earned All-Academic team honors after landing seven members on the Scholar-Athlete list. Juniors Hannah Camhi (Woodbury, N.Y.), Ammu Mandalap (Princeton Junction, N.J.), and Ashley Noyes (Marblehead, Mass.) were named Scholar-Athletes for the third consecutive season, while Olivia Hsu (Santa Rosa, Calif.) earned her second Scholar-Athlete distinction. Senior Nikita Uberoi (Boca Raton, Fla.), as well as sophomores Dayna Lord (Bloomfield, Conn.) and Victoria Traynor (Osprey, Fla.), also made the list.
The Brown men's team earned All-Academic honors for the fifth consecutive campaign after six members were named Scholar-Athletes. Lone senior Justin To (Hong Kong, China) earned the honors for a second straight season, while juniors Ivan Kravtchenko (Sunnyvale, Calif.) and Lucas Da Silveira (Incline Village, Nev.) also garnered Scholar-Athlete accolades. Three of the Bears' rookies also made the list, as Anthony Arocho (Norridge, Ill.), Aaron Sandberg (Hudson, Ohio), and Peter Tarwid (Lake Forest, Ill.) capped off their strong freshmen campaigns.
