
Men's Crew Sweeps CRASH-B Indoor World Rowing Championships

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Several members of Brown's men's rowing team participated at the CRASH-B World Indoor Rowing Championship in Boston this past weekend.
This event is widely considered to be the culmination of the winter indoor training season, where competitors face off in a simulated 2000-meter race on indoor rowing machines. Many Brown crew members had strong breakout performances this year thanks to a very stout several weeks of indoor training on the rowing machines and many sessions in the weight room under the watchful eye of the weight training staff.
Brown highlighted the competition with a podium sweep in the in the Men's Collegiate and U-23 categories at the event. Whiting Tennis '15 won the collegiate and U-23 categories and finished in third place in the Open category after rowing a 2000-meter race in a time of 5:54.9. Brooks Reavill '16 put together a strong push in the last 500 to finish in second in the Collegiate and U-23 categories in a time of 5:59.7, which put him fourth overall.
In addition, freshman Grant Bitler was relentless in his racing and finished at 6:00.9, a very strong time for a young rower in the first year of collegiate rowing. He earned the Bronze in the Collegiate and U-23 categories.
Although these three got the hardware, many members of the team were rewarded with great racing and strong times for their efforts this winter season, and are now eager to get back on the water and prepare for the spring racing season.
Brown kicks off the spring season on Friday, March 27 when they host Yale at 2 p.m., before the Bears welcome Boston University to the Seekonk River the next day at 3 p.m.
