ALBANY, N.Y. – Senior Nick Lappin (Geneva, Ill.) and freshman Tommy Marchin (Algonac, Mich.) of the Brown men's hockey team were named the ECAC Hockey Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively, announced by the league office Tuesday morning.
Lappin earned his second player of the week honor this season after a seven-point performance at the Friendship Four in Belfast, Northern Ireland. He tied a career-high with four assists in the 5-0 win over Colgate on Friday and added three points on one goal and two helpers against No. 4 UMass Lowell on Saturday. He has posted at least one point in all but two games this season and has recorded five multiple-point games in averaging 1.67 points per contest, good enough for fifth in the nation.
Lappin was previously named ECAC Player of the Week on Nov. 17.
Marchin helped Brown to a 1-0-1 showing at the Friendship Four, erupting for 4g-2a-6pts, and was named Player of the Tournament. He powered Brown to a win over Colgate on Friday with his first-career hat trick, all goals coming in the second period. He followed with one goal and a pair of assists against No. 4 UMass Lowell in a 5-5 draw. He is ranked second nationally and first in ECAC Hockey among rookies in points per game (1.33). He is also tied for first in freshman scoring in the league (6g-6a-12pts), and sixth overall, despite having played six fewer games than the co-leader.
Brown will play host to Princeton (12/4) and No. 3 Quinnipiac (12/5) this weekend at Meehan Auditorium. Tickets for all Brown men's hockey games can be purchased online, calling the Brown Athletics Ticket Office at (401) 863-2773, or walking up to the Box Office located in the Pizzitola Sports Center, open Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.
