
No. 12 Men's Water Polo Tops Conn. College, Iona with 17 Different Scorers

NEW LONDON, Conn. – All 16 of No. 12 Brown University men's water polo's field players and one of its goalies scored as Brown defeated Connecticut College, 17-3, and Iona College, 19-9, on Saturday at Conn. College's Lott Natatorium.
In a pair of CWPA Northern Division match-ups, the Bears (19-6 10-0 CWPA North) placed 10 student-athletes in the scoring column in each of its two matches to upend the host Camels (1-13, 0-10 CWPA North) and the Gaels (5-13, 3-7 CWPA North).
Brown topped both opponents for the second time this season. The Bears beat Conn. College, 18-6, at home on Oct. 9 and bested Iona, 11-7, on the road on Sept. 26.
Next, Brown concludes the regular season tomorrow when the Bears host St. Francis Brooklyn (10 a.m.) and Fordham (2 p.m., Senior Game). Brown will then host the CWPA Northern Division Championship at the Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center from Nov. 7-8.
Game 1 – No. 12 Brown 17, Conn. College 3
No. 12 Brown placed 10 different Bears in the scoring column and rolled to a 17-3 win over host Connecticut College on Saturday morning.
Junior Luke Irwin (Thousand Oaks, Calif.) and freshman Santiago Nunez (Miami, Fla.) paced the Bears with three goals apiece while freshman Spencer Carroll (Newport Beach, Calif.), sophomore Joe Faller (North Reading, Mass.), and junior Warren Smith (Dallas, Texas) each netted two goals.
Sophomores Doug Barber (New Haven, Conn.), Adam Hersko-RonaTas (La Jolla, Calif.), and Austin Hwang (Laguna Hills, Calif.), and freshmen Travis Bouscaren (Cambridge, Mass.) and Will Renken (South Pasadena, Calif.) each logged a single tally.
After two-plus quarters of action in goal, Renken made his way into open water to score his first career goal. Renken made six saves in the contest while Hwang checked into the cage in the third quarter and turned aside five shots, not allowing a goal in the fourth period.
Brown opened the game with a 5-0 advantage and took a 7-1 lead after the first quarter. Smith and Irwin each scored twice during the initial 5-0 burst alongside a marker from Carroll. Caroll and Bouscaren closed the stanza's scoring for the Bears.
The visitors staked themselves to a 10-2 edge at halftime behind goals from Faller, Barber, and Nunez – in order.
The Bears outscored the Camels 7-1 in the second half beginning with a 4-1 third quarter. Hwang, Irwin, Hersko-RonaTas, and Nunez provided the firepower in the frame. In the fourth, Renken, Faller, and Nunez supplied insurance.

Game 2 – No. 12 Brown 19, Iona 9
Senior Will Klein (Pasadena, Calif.) and Irwin each scored five goals to lift No. 12 Brown past Iona, 19-9, in neutral water on Saturday afternoon. The Bears gained separation from the Gaels with a 7-1 third quarter.
Sophomore Rico Burke (San Mateo, Calif.) tallied goals while Bouscaren, sophomore Tommy Bush (Lafayette, Calif.), senior Matty Gallas (Manhattan Beach, Calif.), sophomore Tyler Kirchberg (Orinda, Calif.), and juniors Yahel Murvitz-Lahav (Tel Aviv, Israel), Smith, and Jake Wyatt (Corona Del Mar, Calif.) each tacked on a single goal.
Renken made six saves for the second straight contest.
The Bears trailed 2-1 after the first quarter despite a goal from Irwin. Brown began to make its move in the second quarter, outscoring Iona, 6-4. Burke scored twice in between a marker from Klein to give the Bears a 4-3 edge.
Wyatt, Bush, and Kirchberg scored Brown's last three goals in the second quarter to give the Bears a 7-6 lead at the half.
Brown opened the third period with three straight goals with Irwin netting two and Klein adding another. After a goal from Iona, the Bears posted the frame's next four goals – from Klein (two), Irwin, and Bouscaren in order – to capture a 14-7 advantage heading to the fourth quarter.
In the fourth, Murvitz-Lahav, Gallas, Smith, and Irwin twice supplied the scoring for the Bears.
