
Women's Hockey Set to Open Season on the Road at Maine

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown women's hockey team will open its 2015-16 season against Maine in a non-conference series on Friday, Oct. 23 at 7:00 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 24 at 7:00 p.m. Friday's game will be played at Norway Savings Bank Arena in Auburn, Maine while the series finale on Saturday will return to the campus of Maine, at Harold Alfond Sports Arena, in Orono.

SCOUTING MAINE
Maine enters the series with an overall mark of 2-4-0 on the season and a 2-2-0 record in the Hockey East. The team is looking for their first win at home, with the Black Bears registering an 0-3-0 home record. Senior Audra Richards leads the team with four points off of four goals. Meghann Treacy has appeared in net for the Black Bears in all six games, posting a 2.51 goals against average and a .935 save percentage. As a team, Maine is 1-for-20 while on the power play.

BROWN VS. MAINE LAST SEASON
Brown won last years series, 2-0, hosting Maine on Nov. 7 and Nov. 8. The Bears put up five goals in each contest, winning game one, 5-2, and game two, 5-3. In the first contest, junior Erin Conway netted the game-winner while junior Monica Elvin made 30 saves in net. The second game saw sophomore Sam Donovan score the game-winning goal while Elvin tallied 27 stops.
NEXT UP
The Bears will host No. 7/8 Quinnipiac on Friday, Oct. 30 in Brown's first ECAC action of the year for a 7:00 p.m. game. Brown will continue conference play the following day and welcome Princeton as its first Ivy League opponent for a 4:00 p.m. game on Saturday, Oct. 31.

DONOVAN RETURNS AS LEADING GOAL SCORER
Sophomore Sam Donovan returns as Brown's leading goal scorer from the 2014-15 campaign. Donovan scored a team-high 12 goals in her rookie season, including a team-best two game-winning goals, while adding five assists for a total of 17 points. She also registered a team-high in points in conference games with 14. In the ECAC, Donovan led all freshmen with nine goals in league games.
BLOCK PARTY
Senior Kelly Micholson returns as one of Brown's leading defensemen, having led the team in blocked shots in the 2014-15 season (58) and in conference play (42). Micholson also added scoring from the blue line, finishing second last year in defensemen scoring with 10 points on three goals and seven assists.
THE RETURN OF THE NETMINDERS
Brown returns both of its goaltenders from the 2014-15 season in junior Monica Elvin and sophomore Julianne Landry.
Elvin had a strong finish to the 2014-15 campaign with a 40 save performance against No. 5 Quinnipiac in a tough 1-0 loss, as the Bear's almost upset the Bobcats in their last game of the season. Elvin tallied a career-high in saves earlier in the season against Yale (1/23/15), turning away 47 shots in a 3-2 overtime win.
Landry competed in 10 games last season, starting seven. The then-freshman made a total of 192 saves in 362:33 of action. Landry also established a career-high last year, with 38 saves against Dartmouth (1/3/15).
THE CAPTAINS
Seniors Kelly Micholson and Alli Rolandelli will serve as the team's captain for the 2015-16 season. Senior Hunter Davis and junior Maddie Woo will act as the team's assistant captains.
NEWCOMERS
The Bears welcome six incoming freshman to their 2015-16 squad, including forwards Bridget Carey, Jenna Hewitt-Kenda, Katie Lynch and Cara Najjar. Abby Niewchas and Leah Olson round out the class as two defensemen.
