PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Rookie Matthew Chow (Vancouver, British Columbia) and junior Nate Pomeroy (Groton, Mass.) both found the back of the net as the Brown men's soccer team blanked Boston University, 2-0, Tuesday evening at Stevenson Field.
Brown improves to 6-4-1 overall with its sixth-straight victory over BU in as many seasons, while the Terriers drop to 8-3-1.
Junior keeper Erik Hanson (Mechanicsburg, Pa.) posted six saves for his second shutout of the season. Matt Gilbert had five stops on the other end for the Terriers.
Chow put the Bears on the scoreboard at 11:08 with his second tally of the season. The Terriers made a strong push early in the second frame, but Hanson made a pair of impressive stops to deny Felix De Bona and Anthony Viteri on consecutive attempts to preserve the one-goal lead.
Brown tacked on another goal in the 65th minute for the two-goal advantage. After Christian Rodriguez (New York, N.Y.) intercepted a pass in BU territory and found Pomeroy on the left side, the junior maneuvered around a defender and launched a shot into the back of the net to seal the victory.
