Men’s Soccer Travels to UConn for First Road Game of the Season

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Brown men's soccer team will travel to Storrs, Conn. to face the UConn Huskies in their first road game of the 2026 season on Thursday. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Joseph J. Morrone Stadium at Rizza Performance Center.
The game will be broadcast live on UCONN+.

Scouting the Bears (1-0-0)
- The Bears opened up their 2026 campaign last Friday (Aug. 28) at home, with a 2-0 win over New Haven.
- Sawyer Turiace scored Brown's first goal of the year, and the first goal of his collegiate career just minutes into the second half.
- Lorenzo Amaral sealed the Chargers' fate when he netted his first goal of the season, and the Bears' second of the night.
- Goalkeeper Max Pfaffman got the start for the Bears, making three saves to earn a clean sheet.
- Some familiar faces returned to Brown's Starting XI with Amaral, Mathias Hille, James Snaith, and Zion Wharton.
- First-years Alex Sauerbrei, Sergio Canos Seneci, Donovan Mark, Ethan Rabel, and Solomon Powell all made their collegiate debuts. Sauerbrei and Canos Seneci also made their first collegiate starts.
- Brown returns three All-Ivy selections in Snaith (First Team), Amaral (Second Team), and Hille (Second Team).
- Friends of Brown Men's Soccer Head Coaching Chair Chase Wileman returns for his fifth season at the helm.
Scouting the Huskies (1-3-0)
- The Huskies opened up their 2026 season with three straight losses, before earning a 4-1 win over Western Michigan last Sunday (Aug. 30).
- UConn dropped contests to Syracuse (2-1), UMass (3-1), and Fairfield (1-0).
- Three different goal-scorers combined for UConn's four goals against Western Michigan on Sunday.
- Elijah Langford leads the Huskies in scoring with four goals in four games.
- Kyle Durham was selected as the Preseason Big East Goalkeeper of the Year.
- UConn began the 2026 season ranked at No. 24 in the United Soccer Coaches Poll.
- The Huskies added five first-years and eight transfers in the offseason.
- Head Coach Chris Gbandi returns for his fifth season at UConn.
History
- The Brown and UConn series dates back to 1987, where the Bears defeated the Huskies 2-1.
- UConn holds the advantage in the series with a 6-2-1 record.
- The Bears and Huskies last met in the 2025 season for the first time in 15 years. UConn walked away with a 3-1 victory.
