PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown field hockey team got goals from three different scorers en route to a 3-2 win over Siena on Sunday at Goldberger Family Field. The Bears held off a late Siena charge with the goalkeeper pulled for the final 4:26 to improve to 6-2 this season. The Saints drop to 0-10 overall with the loss.

Shannon McSweeney (Boxborough, Mass.) turned five Saints shots away to improve to 6-2 while Mary Drabich made four saves for Siena to fall to 0-8.

The Saints, seeking their first triumph in 10 contests this season, drew first blood as Gabrielle Sullivan's slick lofting shot found the upper portion of the net to give Siena a 1-0 lead. After an impressive double overtime win over Harvard yesterday, the Bears started off a little slow against Siena, before Meghan O'Donnell knotted the game up at one off a long distance feed from Katarina Angus (West Vancouver, B.C.) in what appeared to be a carbon copy of Saturday's goal. The senior's strike tied her for the all-time goal scoring record alongside Tara Mounsey '00 with 36 career goals.

With the teams deadlocked at one, Angus struck for her first goal of the season as her rocket shot deflected off a Siena defender and into the back of the cage to put the Bears up 2-1 entering the half.

Brown added some insurance at the 42:30 mark off a corner as Emily Arciero (Avon, Conn.) faked a pass to Clayton Christus (Bernardsville, N.J.) and fed Alexis Miller (Caldwell, N.J.), who hammered home a shot that broke off Drabich's padding and into the goal.

With the Bears seemingly in control, Siena battled back within one as Katherine Bowie redirected a shot from Molly Hagen that found the back of the cage to cut the Brown lead to 3-2. Head Coach Kara Zappone opted to pull Drabich with 4:26 to play, as the Saints mounted a charge in search of the equalizer. McSweeney came up huge for the Bears with just over three minutes to play, stoning Sullivan twice in the final minutes.

The Bears run out of the clock from there and escaped with a 3-2 win to run their record to 5-1 on Goldberger Family Field.

Brown returns to action on Wednesday for a non-conference tilt at Quinnipiac beginning at 3:30 p.m.
