
Men's Tennis Notches 6-1 Win Over Xavier

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Playing in its first home match of the season, the Brown men's tennis team (1-2) notched its first victory of 2014, a 6-1 decision over visiting Xavier (0-3) on Friday afternoon at the Pizzitola Sports Center.
Justin To led the way for the Bears as they claimed 5-of-6 singles matches and swept a trio of doubles on Friday. To grabbed the No. 1 singles match as he defeated Xavier's Jimmy Roebker in straight sets, 6-4, 6-5 (4).
The duos of Lucas Da Silveira/Justin To, Daniel Hirschberg/Gregory Garcia, and William Spector/Brandon Burke all scored victories in doubles play on Friday.
Xavier's Mesa Mei claimed the Musketeers'' lone victory of the day, a 6-1, 6-4 win over Burke. Brown scored wins in the last four singles matches as Garcia triumphed over Zach Mueck, 2-6, 6-1, 6-2 while Sam Fife outlasted Adam Krull, 6-1, 2-6, 6-4. Spector cruised past Michael Moe, 6-1, 6-1 before Da Silveira concluded the day's events with a 6-4, 6-1 victory over Matt Bishop.
The Bears return to action tomorrow as they play host to Binghamton and Quinnipiac at the Pizzitola Sports Center.
