PROVIDENCE, RI – Brown freshman forward Ryan Jacobson (Greenwood Village, CO) has been named the ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Week for the week ending December 4th. Jacobson was instrumental in helping to lead Brown to a home-and-home split with #14 Yale, posting four points (1g, 3a) in the two games to go along with a "+4" rating.
On Thursday, in the Bears' 5-3 loss, Jacobson earned the primary assist on senior Jack Maclellan's first period power play goal, which gave Brown a 2-0 lead at the time. In Saturday's 6-4 win, Jacobson scored a goal and assisted two others for a career-high three points, and was +4, while earning 2nd star honors. After Yale came back from a 2-0 deficit to tie the score at 2-2 6:36 into the second period, Jacobson scored his third goal of the year 56 seconds later to regain the lead for Brown, 3-2. He earned primary assists on goals that gave Brown a 1-0 lead, the first career goal for freshman Joey de Concilys, and then Maclellan's game-winning goal with 2:13 left in regulation.
Jacobson has played in all 11 games so far this year and is currently playing on Brown's top line with Maclellan and freshman Matt Lorito and the top power play unit. He leads all Brown freshmen with 7 points (3g, 4a), 8th in ECAC Hockey among rookies, and shares the team lead with two game-winning goals.
Jacobson and the rest of the Bears are off for nearly a month for the exam break and the holidays. Brown resumes action on December 30th when it travels to Durham, NH for a 7:00 p.m. non-league contest against the Wildcats.
