Clemente Named ECAC Hockey Goaltender of the Week

PROVIDENCE, RI – Brown senior goalie Mike Clemente (Great Falls, VA) has been named the ECAC Hockey Goaltender of the Week for the week ending October 30^th. Clemente helped lead the Bears to a weekend split in its season-opening games, narrowly falling to Dartmouth, 2-1, and edging Princeton, 3-2.

For the weekend, Clemente posted 56 saves on 60 shots, a .933 save percentage, and a 2.02 GAA. He recorded 19 saves in Friday's loss to Dartmouth. The next night, Clemente posted 37 saves on 39 shots, including 11 of 12 in the third period. Clemente was key in helping Brown pick up the win down the stretch, stopping five shots in the final minute of play against the Tigers, as Princeton had a late power play and then a two-man advantage after pulling its goalie.

Clemente and the rest of the Bears are in action again Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. when they host Colgate in their 2011-12 home opener.
