The men played at Bowdoin and Bates on Sunday the 31 Jan,
earning a 5-4 victory over Bowdoin before falling to Bates, 6-3.
Brad Thompson at #1 won decisively, 3-0, and capture the 5th match
for the Bears in an exciting contest in Brunswick against
Bowdoin.
The Bears had fallen 4-1 down in the match, and needed to win
every remaining match on court in order to snatch a win. Ben Clayman at #3 had a solid win and set the ball rolling. The
momentum gathered for the Bears with wins from Adrian Leanza who
won in typically entertaining fashion at #2 retrieving every ball
by his opponent.

the entire court with excellent shot making; and freshman Chris Holter at #7 had a dependable, mistake-free game that wore his
opponent down to win in 4 games to set up the win by the #1
Thompson who made no errors to win comfortably in three games.
The Bears jumped on the bus and drove to Lewiston and took on the
strong Bates squad and played well in an interesting match that saw
the Bears fall 6-3.
The winners for Brown were Adrian Leanza and Chris Holter, who
both went the weekend undefeated, and freshman Eamon O'Connor. Both freshmen squeaked out fifth game wins by the
closest of margins. Indeed Brown lost two other games in the fifth
in tie-breakers with Clayman and Bryan, who had heartbreaking
losses at #3 and #9 respectively.
Next up for the Bears are Yale and George Washington on the
February 6th at the Pizzitola Sports Center.
