Brown Soccer Hosts Dartmouth on Senior Day

Providence, RI- The Brown University men's soccer team (9-2-5, 4-2-0 Ivy) will host Dartmouth College (10-5-1, 4-2-0 Ivy) at 1:00 p.m. tomorrow in a key Ivy League match to close out the 2009 regular season. Brown will be honoring its four seniors; Nick Elenz-Martin (Encinitas, CA), Jarrod Schlenker (Cranford, NJ), Thomas Thunell (Columbia, SC) and T.J. Thompson (Atkinson, NH) prior to kickoff as they compete in their final game on Stevenson Field.

The game will be broadcast live on with Mike Rubin and Chris Hatfield calling the action, and it can also be viewed by B2 Networks on brownbears.com.

Dartmouth and Brown are 4-2 in Ivy League play and are currently tied for third place in Ivy League standings, as both Harvard and Princeton are tied for first place with 13 points on 4-1-1 records.

Brown is coming off a recent 2-1 victory over Yale last weekend, as sophomore T.J. Popilizio (Rexford, NY) scored in the 22nd minute to tie the game, while freshman defender Thomas McNamara (West Nyack, NJ) scored the game-winner in the 81st minute to earn the win.

Leading Brown's offense this season is sophomore forward Sean Rosa (Montreal, Quebec), who has played and started in all 16 games this season. He is first in scoring with 14 points on four goals and six assists, while senior forward Nick Elenz-Martin (Encinitas, CA) has 12 points this season on five goals and two assists.

Junior goalkeeper Paul Grandstrand (Orono, MN) leads Brown's defense with an 8-2-5 record. He has allowed just 13 goals for a .078 goals against average, and has picked up 50 saves.

Dartmouth, the 2008 Ivy champions, arrives in Providence featuring a 10-5-1 record and is coming off a 2-0 victory against Cornell last weekend. Dartmouth's two Ivy losses came against Harvard and Columbia.

Leading Columbia's potent offense is Daniel Keat with seven goals and six assists for 20 points, while Lucky Mkosana has tallied a team-high eight goals and three assists for 19 points. Goalkeeper Sean Donovan has played and started in 14 games and owns an 8-5-1 record with four shutouts. He has allowed 16 goals for a 1.12 goals-against-average and has tallied 29 saves this season.
