
Men's Soccer Hosts Stony Brook Tonight in NCAA Tournament Game

Providence, RI- The Brown men's soccer team will take on
Stony Brook in the first round of the Division I NCAA Men's
Soccer Tournament at 7:00 p.m. tonight at Stevenson Field. The
Bears are making its 24th appearance in the Tournament, and its
seventh in the last 10 years, as Stony Brook is making its second
trip to the NCAA College Cup.
The Bears are led by First Team All-Ivy selections Nick Elenz-Martin (Encinitas,CA), Paul Grandstrand (Orono, MN) and Sean Rosa (Montreal, Quebec), as the team heads into tonight's
contest with a 10-2-5 overall record and ended in second place in
Ivy League standings with a 5-2 record. Elenz-Martin and Rosa are
tied for the team lead in goals with five, as Grandstrand has been
the glue of the Bears' stingy defense. Grandstrand, the 2007
Ivy League Rookie of the Year, boasts a 9-2-5 record and has four
shutouts this season. His 0.77 goals against average leads the Ivy
League and his .776 save percentage ranks third.
Stony Brook arrives in Providence 6-9-4 overall and has a 4-2-1
record in the America East. The Seawolves are on a seven-game
unbeaten streak, are currently led by America East Rookie of the
Year Leonardo Fernandes' seven goals and two assists. Second
leading scorer and Second Team All-Conference selection Berian
Gobeil has added five goals and two assists, while goalkeeper
Anthony Rogic, an All-Rookie selection, has played 14 games in net
to lead the defense. He has allowed 15 goals this season and has
tallied 55 saves, and during its recent hot streak he has posted a
0.27 goals against average and a .935 save percentage.
The game will not be video streamed, however, Mike Rubin and Mike
Mancuso will be calling the action on brownbears.com, and live statistics will
be available on game tracker. The first 500 Brown students
(with ID) will get in to tonight's match for free, while
tickets for adults are $10 and $5 for students and children
