A 2002 graduate of Brown, Eklund brings a plethora of playingand coaching experience to the Bears. A four-year member of themen's hockey team, Eklund played at every level of the minorsbefore making it to the NHL and playing with the Tampa BayLightning, with whom he won the Stanley Cup during the 2003-04season.
Playing Experience:
• Made his NHL debut with the Tampa Bay Lightning against theMontreal Canadiens (2005/2006)
• Played two seasons with the Pensacola Ice Pilots (ECHL)
• Played four years at Brown University (NCAA, Division IECAC)
• Played for Archbishop Williams High School (MA)
Career Highlights:
• Official member of the 2004 Stanley Cup Champion Tampa BayLightning
• Was voted the Springfield Falcons team MVP for the2004-2005 season
• Set four separate single-season league records whileplaying for the Pensacola Ice Pilots for wins, minutes played,saves in one season and saves in one game
• Selected by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the 7th round (226thoverall) of the 2000 Entry Draft
• Named to ECAC All Academic squad three years in a row
• Patriot Ledger All-Scholastic Team selection his junior andsenior seasons in high school
• Voted to Boston Globe and Boston Herald Dream Team hissenior high school season
• Won the D-1 State Championship as junior with a 3-0 shutoutof Malden Catholic
• Went undefeated during the regular season of his senioryear in high school and suffered his only loss to eventual championCatholic Memorial (CM) in the Super 8 Finals
• Named high school male athlete of the year by School SportsMagazine
