Melissa Paluch joined the Brown women’s hockey team as an assistant coach in August of 2018 and recently completed her second season with the program in 2019-20.
In her first season, Paluch helped lead the Bears to back-to-back wins over nationally ranked Colgate and Cornell.
Prior to Brown, Paluch spent two seasons as an assistant coach at Lake Forest a successful four-year career with the Foresters. In her time as an assistant coach, Paluch helped the Foresters record a program-best 21 victories in 2016-17 while the team’s scoring offense was ranked in the top-5 in each of her two seasons.
As a student-athlete, Paluch is Lake Forest’s career leader in assists with 56 and ranks third with 102 points. Her 46 goals are the sixth-highest total in team history and her 12 power play scores are tied for fifth. Paluch was a three-year captain and two-time winner of Lake Forest's Ry McCarthy Award. She was voted the team's Most Valuable Player as a freshman and was also an Honorable Mention All-Northern Collegiate Hockey Association selection and NCHA All-Rookie Team honoree that year.
Lake Forest posted a 66-26-13 overall record and 51-14-9 mark in league play during Paluch's four seasons on the team. The Foresters claimed a regular season NCHA title in 2014 and made two NCAA Division III Tournament appearances after capturing NCHA Slaats Cup Playoff titles in 2014 and 2015. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology in 2016.
