Jennifer Jamison, a former assistant coach at Pomona-Pitzer and a standout student-athlete at California State University, Northridge, enters her second season on the Brown University water polo staff in 2020-21 as an assistant coach for the women’s team and the operations assistant for the men’s side.
With 22 wins in 2019, Brown posted its ninth 20-win season in a 10-year span and registered 20 or more wins for the 11th time during a 13-year span. Jamison helped guide four All-NWPC selections, including NWPC Rookie of the Year Cole Atwell ’23, alongside three ACWPC All-America choices. The Bears closed the season with a No. 19 national ranking.
Jamison – who acts as the Bears’ recruiting coordinator for the women’s team – comes to Brown after serving as an assistant coach with the men’s and women’s water polo programs at Pomona-Pitzer Colleges during the 2018-19 academic year, helping both teams post undefeated 14-0 conference marks. Jamison has also gained experience coaching at the youth and club levels following a playing career in which she earned All-America honors at CSUN.
With the Sagehens, Jamison helped the Pomona-Pitzer men’s team win the 2018 SCIAC championship and advance to the NCAA tournament while the women’s side reached the SCIAC championship game. With the Sagehens, Jamison held responsibilities around video breakdown and scouting, while acting as the head coach for each team during its respective offseason.
Jamison coached at Foothill Club Water Polo from 2018-19, acting as the head coach of the 18U boys’ team and served as the head coach of the Coastal Zone girls’ team in the Olympic Development Program from 2017-19, leading the team to a second-place finish at the ODP National Championships.
From 2016-18, Jamison coached at Pride Water Polo Academy as the head coach for the 16U boys’ B team in 2016 and the head coach of the 16U boys’ A team in 2017. In 2017, she became the first female coach to lead a 16U boys’ team to a first-place finish at the Coastal Zone Junior Olympic Qualifiers. Jamison also acted as an assistant coach for the Oaks Christian High School girls’ program from 2016-18.
A four-year student-athlete at CSUN from 2011-14, Jamison captained the Matadors for two years and finished her career seventh on the program’s career goals list. She earned Honorable Mention ACWPC All-America honors in 2012 and gained All-Big West Conference accolades twice. As a senior, she led the Matadors to a No. 7 national ranking and an appearance in the Big West championship game.
Jamison earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from CSUN in 2014 and attained a master’s degree in education from National University in 2019.
