Ken Hunt was elevated to the Alden-Rothenberg Men’s and Women’s Cross Country/Track & Field Coaching Chair in August 2022.
Hunt joined Brown as an assistant coach in 2012, primarily working with the team's jumpers and multis, later being promoted to the position of Associate Head Coach of Track and Field/Anne Rothenberg Coaching Chair in September 2020, and Interim Head Coach in August 2021.
During his tenure at Brown as a jumps and multis coach, Hunt has coached 38 NCAA Regional qualifiers, and 10 national qualifiers/All-Americans. Additionally, 15 school records have been broken during his tenure. Jumper Chiamaka Odenigbo was named the 2024 USTFCCCA Northeast Region Field Athlete of the Year after winning the Ivy title in the pentathlon and finishing second in the high jump at the 2024 Indoor Heps. He has also earned two USTFCCCA Northeast Region Women's Assistant Coach of the Year awards during the 2019 outdoor season and the 2019-20 indoor season.
The 2024-2025 season featured five regional qualifiers, and one Nationals qualifier in jumper Jada Joseph, who earned Honorable Mention All-America for the second consecutive season in the triple jump. Five athletes set school records, while Joseph Oduro was an indoor and outdoor Ivy League champion in the triple jump.
While serving as interim head coach in 2021-22, Hunt oversaw a program that had eight student-athletes earn NCAA Regional bids, including one who qualified for the NCAA National Championships in Eugene, Oregon. During the 2021-22 indoor season, he coached Brown's men's program to a fourth-place finish at the Ivy League Championships, its highest placement at Heps since 2018.
During the COVID-shortened season of 2019-20, Hunt earned his second Women's Assistant Coach of the Year honor after coaching Zion Lewis to the No. 8 ranking entering the NCAA Indoor National Championships in the triple jump. He previously earned the same honor during the 2019 outdoor season after guiding his athletes to 51 of the team's 59 points at the Ivy League Championships and coached Carly Paul to the all-time Ivy League record in the heptathlon at 5,632 points. Paul also qualified for nationals in the heptathlon that season, finishing 14th in the nation.
Before Brown, Hunt served as a volunteer assistant at LSU during the 2011-12 season, coaching five national qualifiers in combined events and jumps, and playing a part in the team's NCAA Indoor National Championship title. During his one season as the assistant women’s track and field coach at Georgia Southern in 2010-11, Hunt was named a finalist for the 2010 Southeastern Regional Coach of the Year.
Prior to his time at Georgia Southern, Hunt coached at Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville, where his athletes set SIUE records in the pentathlon, long jump and pole vault. Hunt was also an assistant track and field coach at Marquette University for two years, coaching 10 Big East qualifiers and 4 NCAA Regional qualifiers.
Before his career in college coaching, Hunt led the track program at Rufus King High School in Milwaukee, Wisconsin for four years, during which he coached 100 all-conference athletes, 20 state champions and 15 all-state athletes. He built the team from an initial roster of 45 to more than 150 participants.
After beginning his collegiate career at the University of Wisconsin, Hunt graduated with a bachelor's degree in history from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 2002. Hunt finished his collegiate career as the UW-Milwaukee and Horizon League record holder in both the indoor and outdoor triple jump.
