Collin Zeffer is in his third season as the Brown head men’s cross country coach in the 2025-26 season. Zeffer also serves as an assistant track and field coach, distance.
Most recently before coming to College Hill, Zeffer served as the Men’s Cross Country Assistant Coach at Temple University during the 2022-23 academic year. While at Temple, he coached the men’s cross country team to a sixth place finish at the 2022 American Athletic Conference Championships, as well as a 10th place finish at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regionals.
Prior to Temple, Zeffer spent three years on staff at Rider, where he served as an assistant coach for the men’s and women’s middle distance runners. He coached a pair of Broncs that earned All-MAAC honors in cross country, including Kristin Seigle in 2019 and Teagan Schein-Becker in 2021. On the track, he coached Seigle to the NCAA First Round Prelims in 2021 in the 1500 meters (4:22.45), and Schein-Becker to the NCAA Quarterfinals in the 1500m in 2022 (4:18.39). He also helped coach Tamrat Snyder, who broke the school record in the 800 meters (1:47.70) in 2022. Additionally, he coached several All-MAAC performers, conference champions, and ECAC/IC4A champions.
No stranger to the Ivy League, Zeffer also served as a volunteer assistant coach at Penn from November 2016-July 2019, working with the men’s cross country program, as well as the middle distance and distance runners. In cross country, he coached four All-Ivy honorees, and helped guide two athletes, Anthony Russo and Sam Webb, to the NCAA Cross Country Championships in 2018. On the track, he guided 24 Quakers to All-Ivy accolades and four to Ivy League Heps championship titles. He also coached Chris Hatler to a sub four-minute mile in 2017, and Colin Daly to an NCAA Outdoor Championship berth in the 3,000m steeplechase in 2019.
Zeffer graduated from the University of Delaware in 2013 with a bachelor’s degree in foreign language and literature – Spanish, and was a four-year member of the Blue Hens’ varsity track and cross country teams.
