Jack Roberts enters his first season as the Brown Men’s Soccer Zisson Family Assistant Coaching Chair in 2022-23. Roberts, who will serve as the Bears’ recruiting coordinator, comes to Brown from Stetson University where he served as an assistant coach since 2020.
During the 2021 season, Roberts helped guide Stetson to its first winning season since 2014 with two victories coming against nationally ranked opponents. Stetson advanced to the ASUN Tournament semifinals and saw nine players receive all-conference recognition, including ASUN Freshman of the year, Nelson Pereira.
At Stetson, in addition to on-field coaching, Roberts was responsible for recruiting, video analysis, scouting reports, individual player development plans, as well as directing camps and clinics.
Before arriving at Stetson, Roberts spent the 2019 season as the top assistant coach at Saint Leo University, and helped guide the Lions to a 7-10 overall record, a four-win improvement over the previous season.
Prior to arriving in Florida, Roberts spent two seasons (2017-18) coaching at his Alma mater, Missouri State University. Roberts helped lead the Bears to a Missouri Valley Conference championship in 2017 and a Top 25 national ranking during the 2018 campaign.
Under Roberts’ tutelage Missouri State saw two players named All-Americans, seven All-Region selections, 1 MVC Defensive player of the year, and 3 players signed to MLS contracts.
Roberts began his college coaching career at William Woods University in Fulton, Mo., where he was an assistant coach. During the 2016 season, the team finished with a 12-7 record, including six wins in conference, tying the record for most conference wins in program history.
A native of Leicester, England, Roberts was a four-year member of the men’s soccer team at Missouri State University where he played and captained three Missouri Valley Regular Season championship winning teams. Upon graduating from MSU, Roberts signed a one year contract with Telford United in England.
Prior to his time with MSU, Roberts spent eight years playing for Leicester City FC, as well as three years playing for Lincoln City, during which time he represented the Republic of Ireland at under 19 level, making his debut in 2008 vs. Germany.
Roberts earned his bachelor’s degree in communications from Missouri State in 2015 before going on to earn his masters in communications, also from Missouri State during his second spell in 2018.
