Brett Holm joined coach Mike Daly's lacrosse coaching staff at Brown in 2017 and enters his seventh season on Browns staff in 2024. Holm is reunited with head coach Mike Daly, whom he served for as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Tufts University from 2009-12.
Brown finished the 2023 season with a 6-8 record and 2-4 Ivy League mark with three of those losses coming by a single goal. Five Bears, including First Team All-Ivy Matthew Gunty, picked up postseason Ivy League honors. Additionally, Gunty and Devon McLane picked up USILA Scholar All-American honors as the Bears posted another strong season in the classroom.
The 2022 campaign saw the Bears post a 10-5 overall record and capture a share of the Ivy League Regular Season Title. The Bears welcomed Cornell, Penn, and Yale to Stevenson-Pincince Field for the 2022 Ivy League Tournament. The Bears earned an at-large berth to the 2022 NCAA Tournament and were named the eighth-seed and earned the right to host Virginia in the NCAA First Round Game.
Prior to arriving on College Hill, Holm spent five seasons on staff at Providence College, helping revitalize the program and guide the Friars to their first ever appearance in the Big East Tournament in 2016.
“Brett brings a ton of talent and experience to our program,” said Daly. “I am most excited about the work ethic and toughness standard he will bring to our program.”
Holm came to Providence College after spending four seasons at Tufts as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator (2009-12) under Daly. While with the Jumbos, Holm worked closely with the program’s face-off unit and defense.
During his tenure on the sidelines, Tufts made four-consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances from 2009-2012, including three trips to the Final Four. The Jumbos captured the NCAA title in 2010, finished as NCAA runner-up in 2011 and advanced to the NCAA semifinals in 2012. During Tufts’ NCAA title run in 2010, Holm was honored as USILA National Assistant Coach of the Year and also served as a head coach at the East-West All-Star Game. In four seasons as an assistant coach at Tufts, the program compiled a 68-11 overall record.
Holm also enjoyed an impressive playing career at Tufts, and earned a bachelor’s degree in economics in 2007. He went on to complete his masters at Tufts in 2011 in Urban Environmental Planning and Policy.
Holm was a two-sport standout in football and lacrosse. He earned All-New England honors in 2006 and was an All-NESCAC selection in 2005. The two-time team captain also earned the Beggattaway Award for hard work and determination in 2006 and 2008. He was also a football team captain as a senior.
