Men's Lacrosse Announces 2026 Captains

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Rothman Head Coaching Chair for Men's Lacrosse Jon Torpey announced the five captains ahead of the 2026 season today. Seniors PJ Behan, Charlie Cave, Jeremy Hopsicker, Trey Taylor, and Marcus Wertheim will lead the program.
Cave and Wertheim both served as captains in the 2025 season.
"We are thrilled to have this group of exceptional young men leading us into the 2026 season," Torpey said. "This group was voted into the position of captain here at Brown by their teammates. This group of five young men and all who expressed interest in being captains on this team share the qualities of being resilient, selfless, and consistently elite in their daily actions."
A native of St. Louis, Missouri, Behan has played in 40 career games as a short stick defensive midfielder and has 23 career ground balls.
Cave earned Inside Lacrosse Media All-America honors and Second Team All-Ivy honors in 2025 after earning First Team All-Ivy honors as a sophomore. The defenseman has 93 career ground balls and 61 career caused turnovers, along with three goals and three assists.
Hopsicker recorded 14 goals and 16 points as a junior attackman in 2025. The Brockport, New York native tallied hat tricks in three consecutive games a season ago, notably recording a hat trick and game-winning goal at 16th-ranked UMass.
Taylor has made 36 starts at close defense in his Brown career and enters 2026 with 48 career ground balls and 23 caused turnovers. The Tampa, Florida native recorded two goals as a sophomore in 2024 and has three in his career.
A native of St. James, New York, Wertheim led the Bears with 29 points a season ago behind 19 goals and 10 assists. He also added 19 ground balls and six caused turnovers and enters 2026 with 36 career goals and 66 career points.
