Women's Water Polo Closes Out California Trip with Two Tight Losses

LA JOLLA, Calif. – Brown women's water polo closed out its California trip with two close losses to No. 16 UC Davis and No. 15 UC San Diego on Saturday (March 28).
Alexandra Love led Brown on the day with nine goals in the two games and Ava Schoening had eight.
No. 16 UC Davis 17, No. 23 Brown 13
In the first game of the day, Brown dropped a tough 17-13 game to No. 16 UC Davis.
Ava Schoening and Alexandra Love tied for the team lead with four goals. Sofia Flierl finished the game with three goals and Megan Newby collected two.
The Bears trailed 4-2 after the first quarter and 7-4 at halftime. UC Davis extended its lead going into the fourth by one goal. Both teams scored six goals each in the final eight minutes.
No. 15 UC San Diego 21, No. 23 Brown 16
The Bears closed out their California trip with a 21-16 loss at No. 15 UC San Diego.
Alexandra Love led Brown with five goals and Ava Schoening tallied four scores. Madeliene Poissonnier, Ella Palmer and Samantha Kim all scored twice.
After falling behind 6-3 in the first quarter, the Bears were able to climb back in, using a 3-0 run during the third quarter to make it a one-goal game. A goal by Love made the score 15-14 but UCSD took control on a 4-0 run to put the game out of reach.
UP NEXT
Brown will close out its regular season with a home game against Harvard on Saturday (April 4) with the game starting at 1 p.m.
