Women's Water Polo Goes 2-0 During CWPA Play on Saturday

PRINCETON, N.J. - Brown's women's water polo team completed its weekend with two wins in CWPA play at DeNunzio Pool at Princeton on Saturday (March 21). The Bears beat Mercyhurst, 14-2, and Bucknell, 18-3.
Brown 14, Mercyhurst 2
The Bears started strong with a 3-0 lead in the first quarter and held a 7-1 lead into halftime. Alexandra Love netted the most goals for the Bears with three, with Madeliene Poissonnier, Cleo Washer, and Sophia Flierl all adding two each. Five others added a goal each, giving the Bears their win in the end.
Somto Okafo was a powerhouse in net, allowing only two goals and making 11 saves.
Brown 18, Bucknell 3
Brown cruised to an 18-3 win over Bucknell to close out the day. Samantha Kim finished the game with a team-high four goals. Six other bears finished the game with two goals. Ava Schoening led Brown with four assists.Â
In goal, Somto Okafo finished with 13 saves.
Brown took control early, outscoring Buckell 9-0 in the first quarter and the Bears led 13-1 at halftime. Brown outscored Bucknell 4-2 in the third quarter beofre adding a final goal in the last period.Â
UP NEXT
Brown will return to the pool on Wednesday (March 25) as the Bears will take on LMU to begin a four-game trip in California.Â
