
Men’s Tennis Dominates Matches Against Binghamton and BU

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Brown men's tennis team (9-5) earned a 6-1 win over Binghamton (3-8) and a 7-0 sweep against Boston University (4-7) at its Sunday doubleheader at the Pizzitola Sports Center.
In doubles play against Binghamton, Noah Hernandez and Ivan Sodan fell to Harry Liao and Ronin Lotlikar in the opening match with a tight 6-4 result. James Lian and Zander Bravo followed with another close result, but also fell to Dylan Breen and Filipe Costa in a 7-6 battle. Brown secured its lone doubles victory with Lukas Phimvongsa and Cole Oberg delivering a strong 6-2 win over Giannis Sakkas and Andrew Fang.
In singles action, Sodan responded with a strong performance with a 7-5, 7-6 win over Lotlikar to set the tone. Phimvongsa added a win by cruising past Costa 6-1, 6-2, while Hernandez added another victory with a 6-2, 7-6 result over Liao. Robert Yang kept the Bears rolling with a 6-1, 6-2 win against Andre Ajed, while Wasserman defeated Sakkas 6-1, 6-1, and Bravo closed out the match, blanking Fang 6-0, 6-0.
In doubles play against Boston University, Phimvongsa and Sodan grabbed a 6-4 win over Payton Jim‑On and Jakob Esterowitz. Hernandez and Zander fell to David Asenov and Adrian Quiros 6-4. Brown claimed another win with Wasserman, and Oberg delivered a strong 6-1 performance against Andrew Andea and Jaydon Barki.
Singles play was a clean sweep across all competitions with Sodan was in full control before Esterowitz retired at 5-0. Phimvongsa followed with another strong 6-1, 6-2 win over Asenov. Hernandez added a 6-2, 6-2 victory against Jim‑On, and Yang continued the momentum with a 6-3, 6-3 result over Quiros. Wasserman kept it rolling with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Andea, while Alex Koong closed out the match with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Barki.
The Bears will travel next weekend to Annapolis, Md., to compete against Navy on Saturday, March 7.
