
Women’s Fencing Finishes Day One of 2026 Ivy League Championships

PRINCETON, N.J. - The Brown women's fencing team went 1-3 on Saturday at day one of the 2026 Ivy League Championships, securing a 14-13 win over fifth-seeded Cornell at Jadwin Gymnasium. The Bears fell to top seed Columbia 24-3 to begin the day, followed by a 21-6 setback to third-seed Harvard. After a break, Brown took on the second-seeded and host Princeton (21-6 Tigers win) before the victory over the Big Red.
In sabre action, Ibla Vadasz led the squad with a 5-6 record, while Soph Bililies finished 3-5. Alexandra Tzou finished 1-7 across the day, and Sophia Lee went 0-2. Alyssa Sun rounded out the group with a 3-4 performance.
From the foil squad, Jessie Chen posted a 5-7 record, while Vera Fung went 2-4. Grace Li went 1-9, Apoorva Talwalkar ended the day at 0-2 and Catherine Zhou finished 1-5.
In epee contests, Ashley Luo went 2-6, Amy Mao finished 2-8, Kira Nguyen posted a 2-7 mark and Dasha Smuk registered a 4-4 record. Jessie Yan rounded out the day with a 0-1 record.
UP NEXT
The Bears conclude the 2026 Ivy League Championships tomorrow morning. Brown will take on fourth-seeded Yale at 9 a.m. and sixth-seeded Penn at 10:30 a.m.
