
Women's Water Polo Drops Two Games on Day One of Harvard Invite

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Brown women's water polo dropped both games of day one of the Harvard Invite at the Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center, Saturday, Feb. 28. The Bears fell to No. 14 Princeton 16-9 to start the day, before losing 14-13 to No. 21 Wagner to close out the evening.Â
PRINCETON 16, BROWN 9
The Bears started the first quarter strong, keeping the score tight, and were only trailing 6-4 at the half. Gaby Montalvo and Megan Newby both netted two goals for the Bears, with seven other players scoring a goal each.Â
In goal, Sarah Decker saved five shots from the Tigers.
WAGNER 14, BROWN 13
Aubrie Anderson and Sofia Flierl each found the net three times for Brown against Wagner. Ella Palmer and Samantha Kim both scored twice, but the Bears gave up a last-second goal to fall to the Seahawks.
After trailing 8-5 at the half, Brown pulled within one after an Ella Palmer goal with a minute left in the third quarter. Wagner would respond, taking an 11-9 lead into the final quarter.Â
Brown mounted a rally, tying the game at 12 with three-straight goals before Wagner scored with 26 seconds left to go up one. With three seconds left, Kim found the net to re-tie the game, but Wagner scored a last-second shot to earn the win.
UP NEXT
Brown will close out the weekend against LIU on Sunday (March 1), with the game beginning at 3:30 p.m.
