FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Jeremy Hopsicker scored four goals and Connor Foley made 14 saves as the Brown Bears (1-0, 0-0 Ivy League) opened the 2026 season with a 10-8 win over the Fairfield Stags (1-1, 0-0 CAA) Saturday afternoon at Rafferty Stadium.
Honestly, I'm really proud of our guys," the Rothman Head Coaching Chair for Men's Lacrosse Jon Torpey said. "Andrew Baxter and his staff do a great job at Fairfield of putting pressure on you all over the field and I thought our guys responded well. This was a total team win."
After an early Fairfield goal, Jeremy Hopsicker and Marcus Wertheim tallied goals to give the Bears a 2-1 lead heading into the second quarter.
Brown continued the scoring run in the second quarter as Wertheim added his second goal of the afternoon and Hopsicker added a pair to complete the hat trick. Baden Brown also scored for the Bears for a 6-1 lead before Will Consili ended the run with his first goal of the game.
Luke Dellicicchi tallied his first goal of the season with 1:34 remaining in the half to push the score to 7-2 at the halftime break.
Fairfield tallied two goals to open the third quarter and draw within three goals, but Brown freshman Jameson Steele responded with consecutive goals with 8:12 and 3:19 remaining in the frame to push Brown's lead back to five at 9-4.
Devin Lampron struck late in the third quarter and Rob Morris added another goal early in the fourth to bring Fairfield within three.
Hopsicker added his fourth of the game with 9:56 remaining in the game to extend the score to 10-6.
