
Eight Bears Earn CSC Football Academic All-District

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Eight members of the Brown football team have been named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District team, the organization announced on Tuesday. The eight players named is tied with Harvard for the most honorees in the Ivy League.
Seniors Ty Pezza, John Starman, John Perdue, Solomon Miller, Sam Smith and Owen Clarke, along with junior James Murphy and sophomore Matt Childs were all selected to the team.
This is the second consecutive year that both Perdue and Smith have been named Academic All-District.
In addition, Perdue was selected as a finalist for CSC Academic All-America and will advance to the national ballot to be voted upon by CSC members. The Academic All-America teams will be announced on January 27.
To be eligible for Academic All-District recognition, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, have a cumulative GPA of 3.50 on a 4.0 scale, compete in at least 90 percent of the institution's games or start in at least 66 percent of the team's contests.
