Men’s Basketball Drops Home Contest to Cornell

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Brown men's basketball team (7-10, 1-3) dropped a home contest to Cornell (8-9, 1-3), 89-67, on Monday afternoon inside the Pizzitola Sports Center.
Jeremiah Jenkins led the way offensively for Brown with 17 points on 6-13 shooting from the floor and 3-5 shooting from beyond the arc. The sophomore grabbed four rebounds to go along with three assists. Isaiah Langham scored 14 points off the second-straight game as the freshman shot 5-7 from the floor to go along with five rebounds and one assist.
As a team, the Bears shot 44.6 percent from the floor and 31.6 percent from beyond the arc. Brown and Cornell each scored 38 points inside the paint, while the Big Red outscored the Bears 11-2 on second chance points.
The Big Red jumped out to a 9-2 lead after making four out of their first five shot attempts. After the Bears cut the lead to 9-5, the Big Red outscored the Bears 11-9 to take a 20-14 advantage with 11:05 to go in the first half.
Brown mounted a comeback, outsourcing Cornell 9-3 to tie the game at 23 with 7:08 to play in the opening stanza.
After Brown tied the game, Cornell launched a 22-5 run over the final seven minutes of the first half as it took a 45-28 lead into halftime.
The Bears cut the deficit to 15 points on two separate occasions in the second half, but that was as close as they'd get. The Big Red led by as much as 25 in the final 20 minutes.
Brown shot 58.3 percent from the floor in the second half while shooting 4-7 from beyond the arc. Jenkins led the way for the Bears with 12 points in the half.
Brown will travel to Princeton, N.J. to take on Princeton on Saturday, Jan. 24. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m. inside Jadwin Gymnasium. Fans can purchase tickets here.
