Men’s Basketball Claims First Ivy League Win with 86-80 Overtime Triumph Over Columbia
1/17/2026 6:23:00 PM | Men's Basketball
PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Brown men's basketball team (7-9, 1-2) earned its first Ivy League victory with a 86-80 overtime triumph over Columbia (12-5, 1-2) inside the Pizzitola Sports Center on Saturday afternoon.
"In the first half I thought we did a lot of good things but we didn't defensive rebound and certainly didn't finish the half the way we needed to," Men's Basketball Head Coaching Chair Mike Martin '04 said. "Getting to the foul line was key, obviously these two guys in Jeremiah Jenkins and Landon Lewis making plays for themselves and their teammates was huge. We were able to make up for our lack of rebounding by turning them over and us only turning the ball over nine times was key."
The game featured 17 lead changes as neither team held a lead more than six.
Landon Lewis netted a career-high 26 points in the win on 10-16 shooting from the floor, the senior also added nine rebounds. Jeremiah Jenkins recorded 14 points, nine rebounds, and nine assists in the win. The sophomore has had five or more assists in five-straight contests.
Isaiah Langham scored 14 points off the bench on 6-9 shooting from the floor, Adrian Uchidiuno added 10 points and has scored in double figures in five-straight games.
Overall, the Bears shot 50.9 percent from the floor and outscored Columbia 54-36 inside the paint and 22-8 on points from turnovers.
Brown's largest lead of the first half was three pointers as it shot 12-28 from the floor. Lewis, Jenkins, and David Rochester all led the Bears with six points in the opening half. The opening half featured 14 lead changes and seven ties.
Columbia held the largest lead of the opening 20 minutes with a six-point advantage to close the half, the Lions led 42-36 at halftime after closing the half on a 7-0 run.
Trailing by six entering the second half, Brown opened the second half on a 10-4 run to quickly tie the game at 46 heading into the second half under 16 media timeout with 15:42 to go in regulation. Following the tie, the second half featured three lead changes and six more ties.
After a steal and score by Brown gave it a 72-69 lead, Blair Thompson's three-pointer with 40 seconds remaining knotted the game at 72. Neither team scored in the final seconds as the game headed to overtime.
Brown outscored Columbia 10-0 on points from turnovers in the second half and 28-10 on points in the paint. Lewis scored 17 of the Bears' 36 second half points as Jenkins dished out six assists in the half while grabbing five rebounds and two steals.
