Women's Tennis Collect Four Wins on Day One of the Dartmouth Fall Foliage Festival

HANOVER, N.H. - The Brown women's tennis team earned three singles and one doubles win on day one of the Dartmouth Fall Foliage Festival against Dartmouth and UMass.

Anne Yang and Chloe Qin started doubles with a decisive 6-3 victory over UMass' Defne Su Sever and Owethu Makhanya at the fourth court, breaking serve early and maintaining their lead throughout.

In singles, three first-year players achieved notable wins. Abigail Lee claimed victory over Dartmouth's Valentina Cruz at the second line. Francesca Saroli, at the fifth line, rallied to defeat Dartmouth's Brooke Hess. To cap off the day, Chloe Qin added a seventh-line win against UMass' Defne Su Sever.

Speaking about the team's performances, Broadbent Family Head Coach Lucie Schmidhauser commented, "Much better performances across the board in terms of our competitiveness. The freshmen did a great job problem-solving in their matches today, playing gritty and determined tennis. Now, we need to work on executing under pressure with courage and game style clarity across the board."
